“In the entire circle of the year there are no days so delightful as those of a fine October” – Alexander Smith
Happy November 11th friends!
As you can tell from 99.999% of my posts, I am beauty + makeup obsessed! It would be fair to say that nothing makes me quite as happy as that kinda stuff does. From morning to night I’ve got beauty on the brain. While I’ve had a number of beauty favs during the last month, I realized that there were a number of non-beauty related items that also deserve a mention. And so, I thought I’d make this favorites post a little different by including both beauty AND lifestyle items I’ve been loving.
So without further ado, I present to you my October favorites:
Charlotte Tilbury Rock ’N’ Kohl Iconic Liquid Eye Pencil in “Elizabeth Violet”

Along with my signature glossy lip, I would ALWAYS have a little winged liner action going on. Watching my favorite YouTubers opt for a more natural makeup look lately encouraged me to try the same. I’m talking a swipe of eye shadow, mascara, some gloss + I’m out the door. When I was gifted the Rock ’N’ Kohl eye pencil in “Elizabeth Violet” I was a little apprehensive. I used to always wear an eye liner pencil but got sick of having it transfer to my lids, and so my love of liquid liner began. Annnyways, I thought I’d give the Charlotte Tilbury pencil a try & I’ve been pleasantly surprised. While I don’t use it for a winged liner look, I like to smudge it along my lash line to create a more smokey eye. It’s not something I wear everyday, however it helps take any makeup look from day to night in one single swipe. There are 6 eye pencils in the collection, with shades ranging from nude to purple. I legit just realized that this pencil is purple?! Not even joking, I’ve been using this without even realizing it’s NOT black. So clearly the shades are super subtle. Anyways, these pencils are super creamy and VERY blendable and if you’re an eye liner pencil user, this one is a definite must.
Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chameleon Eye Shadow Pencil in “Champagne Diamonds”

Okay, apparently I was all about Charlotte Tilbury last month! But seriously, who can resist a product named “Champagne Diamonds”?! I know this gal can’t. Anyways, these eye shadow pencils are totally new to me and take some getting used to. They dry down really quickly so you have to make sure to blend them out ASAP.
Sephora.ca says that these pencils are designed to enhance the eyes by complementing specific eye colors. It is a hybrid product that can be used as a shadow or liner. The smooth, easy-glide formula is infused with synthetic sapphire, whose mineral, soft-focus effects transform and enhance eye colour for a range of looks that can be dialled up or down depending on the occasion. The formula lasts for up to 10 hours and is waterproof.
I only play around with this shadow pencil when I have a little more time to get ready since one wrong move and you may need to start again. There are 9 shades in the range and they’re all named after jewels…sooo do you need another reason to pick up one of these little guys?!
Paula’s Choice Skincare – Calm 1% BHA Lotion Exfoliant (for all skin types)

Thank goodness my Mother is the skincare connoisseur that she is, otherwise I would totally be lost! Last week, my skin experienced A LOT of action as I had a facial (which is something I don’t normally indulge in) and then a FORMA facial back to back. Needless to say, my face freaked out annnnnd mayhem ensued. My poor face didn’t know what was going on and it hasn’t been the same since. One look at my naked (and clearly irritated) skin and my Mom handed me the Paula’s Choice lotion exfoliant. Within a couple of days, my skin had visibly calmed down and I 100% attribute it to this lotion. The bottle says to apply this once or twice a day (over face and neck) and If you’re applying it during the day to always follow with a sunscreen.
Bath & Body Works Candle in “Marshmallow Fireside”

If you read my Top 10 must have B&BW candles post (click here if you missed it), you’ll know I love candles..and specifically “Marshmallow Fireside”! During the month of October, I seemed to always have this one burning. With temperatures quickly dropping, lighting this one made me feel warm and cozy + totally ready to tackle the impending doom that is winter 2019. Not much more needs to be said about this favorite, it’s lovely and delicious smelling and I’m confident you need it in your life.
Let That Sh*t Go: Find Peace of Mind and Happiness in your Everyday By: Nina Purewal + Kate Petriw

I am a sucker for a self help book + this one is a MUST READ for anyone who struggles with anxiety (or just has a hard time letting sh*t go). The book is filled with tons of exercises to try and in all honestly, these techniques have proven to be more successful than months of therapy. For example, the book suggests that when your chatty (negative) mind takes over, focus on what it is that you’re doing at that very moment. If you’re having a coffee, break down each and every action. While that may seem silly, IT WORKS! So notice how the coffee smells, talk yourself through holding the handle of the mug, moving it up to your mouth and finally taking a sip. What does it taste like? Your chatty mind will very quickly shut off and doing this will totally make you more present in the moment.
This is Indigo’s little description of the book: “Life is stressful as f*ck. But it doesn’t have to be. It’s no wonder why you can’t calm down: your to-do list is as long as your arm, your bank balance keeps dropping, you feel guilty for not calling your parents more often and there always seems to be a big deadline to meet at work. You need a serious breather – but you can barely find time to shower, let alone to exercise or meditate. In Let That Sh*t Go, Kate Petriw and Nina Purewal share the wisdom they’ve gained through decades of practising and teaching others to find peace of mind no matter how busy they are. Learn to put your life in perspective, take each day one step at a time and steal moments of calm amid the chaos. And remember: it’s not worth holding onto that sh*t.”
“The East Family” YouTube Channel

If you’re not subscribed to The East Family on YouTube, stop reading + subscribe RIGHT NOW (seriously go and do it now, I’ll wait). Shawn Johnson (yes, the Olympic gynmast) + Andrew East (yes, the NFL player) = The East Family. Together they are #couplegoals, #fitnessgoals, and every other #goals that you can think of. With 1.04 MILLION subscribers, these two lovebirds are SO motivational in so many aspects of life. Do yourself a favor and include these two in your lives, I promise you won’t regret it!
Brunette Label “BLONDE” sweater

By now, you’ve probably seen these sweaters alll over Instagram…but there’s a reason why. Not only are they SO comfy + over-sized, but…. they’re super cute! I pair mine with faux leather leggings, my espadrilles and I’m not gonna lie, I feel like one stylish lady. The Brunette Label seems to be popping up in a lot of local shops around the Hamilton area lately. I bought this sweater from Bella + Coop in Caledonia (p.s. if you live in the area and haven’t been, you HAVE to go!). Anyways there are a ton of super cute sweaters to choose from, not only do they have their “Blonde” sweater, but they have “Brunette”, “Redhead”, “Boss Babe”, “Babes Supporting Babes” and many more!
Orange Theory Fitness

Hands down, joining Orange Theory has been one of the best decisions of my life. As someone who’s joined a number of gyms in her 31 years of existence, I’ve never joined one that I’ve enjoyed THIS much. Anyone who knows me knows I LOVE my sleep, but when I voluntarily jump out of bed at 4:40AM 3 days a week, that must say something. Orange Theory classes are one hour and they.are.INTENSE my friends. The workouts are always different and I find that they’re totally addicting. Classes are half cardio and half weight training and then include a short cool down. The theory behind Orange Theory is that you want your heart rate to get in the “orange zone”. For every minute that you’re in that zone you earn 1 splat point, so it makes working out totally fun (and almost like a really physically exhausting game). Let me tell you friends, you gotta work for those points! After every workout, you’re emailed a summary and for me, it definitely helps for me to see how many calories I burned, my heart rate, and number of splat points I’ve earned, etc. Anyways, I can’t say enough wonderful things about OTF! The instructors are AMAZING, the music is incredible, the workouts are super intense and challenging and everyone that walks into the building is SO encouraging!
I’ve been going for just over a month now and I’ve seen a number of changes in my body which has definitely motivated me to keep going! So if you’re looking to spice up your workouts, definitely pop into an Orange Theory for a free session!
Queer Eye: We’re in Japan!
.jpg/:/cr=t:0%25,l:0%25,w:100%25,h:100%25/rs=w:1280)
If there was ever a TV show that had the power to make ANY situation better, it was this one. With so much hate & negativity in the world, this show totally gives you the faith that there are tons of good people in the world! In short, this show makes my heart happy. Netflix launched the new Queer Eye (w/ a new cast) in February of 2018, and since then have conducted 36 heartwarming (+ tear filled) makeovers. 4 of those makeovers were done in their “We’re in Japan” season…which as you can assume by the name, takes place in Japan.
If you’ve never watched Queer Eye on Netflix (why the heck not?!), then here’s a little introduction of the cast….

JONATHAN – grooming
TAN – fashion
KARAMO – culture & lifestyle
ANTONI – food
BOBBY – design
But seriously, save yourself the hassle of scrolling through Netflix and watch this one! Your heart will thank you for it 🙂
