Happy Sunday friends!
My bestie + I are taking a quick girls trip to Vegas this week and we could not be more excited! I’ve been making list after list of things I want to bring & that made me think about what makeup I’m planning on packing. My everyday makeup routine is pretty basic (like … basic AF). I’m talking tinted moisturizer, mascara, bronzer, lippie + then I’m out the door. Unlike my lip collection, it’s minimal and I use the same products everyday until they’re finished. Hopefully that’ll make packing my makeup a relatively painless task (since I don’t have a ton to choose from).
Anyways, without further ado, come get ready with me:
1) TINTED MOISTURIZER
PÜR Beauty 4-in-1 Tinted Moisturizer in the shade “MEDIUM”:
Foundation and I have never been friends. My skin is pretty sensitive and a couple hours with that stuff caked on my face will cause a riot on my poor visage. For years I’ve searched for the perfect tinted moisturizer that’s going to even out my complexion and give my skin a natural, healthy looking glow. When my Physicians Formula “Argan Wear Ultra-Nourishing BB Cream” was discontinued, I was pretty devastated. Thankfully, I didn’t have to leave the Shoppers Drug Mart cosmetics aisle because I found this gem! It’s your moisturizer, primer, foundation + SPF 20 all-in-one. It retails for $35 CAD and has four shades to chose from. It’s super lightweight and has not broken me out in the 6 months I’ve been using it. I’m just finishing up my first tube now so it’s lasted me a pretty long time. A little bit does go a long way.
2) CONCEALER
Maybelline New York Superstay Better Skin Concealer in the shade “LIGHT/MEDIUM”:
Okay, for someone who loves makeup as much as I do, I seem to be late to the party a lot with really common makeup trends. I only started using concealer about a year ago & looking back, I don’t know how I survived without it. That, or I just never needed it like I do now (#thesebagsarereal). My first ever concealer was the NYX HD Studio Photogenic concealer in “Light”. In a year, I’d gone through 4 tubes of that stuff. I figured I’d give something else a try and bought the Maybelline Better Skin Concealer in the shade “Light/Medium”. It might not be as thick as I would like but it definitely does the trick!
3) BRONZER
Maybelline City Bronzer & Contour Powder in “Light”:
I am ALL about a bronze-y glow all year round. Some people wake up with nightmares about leaving the house without clothes on, mine would be to leave the house without bronzer on (not really but my love for bronzer is real). I’ve had everything from the Too Faced Sweetie Pie Bronzer, Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer, Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer and Benefit Hula Bronzer. The Maybelline City Bronzer came out several months ago and seemed to be all the rage on Instagram…so naturally, I had to have it! For $16.99 CAD, this bronzer is actually not my favourite. I find it to be very chalky and doesn’t easily blend out. For someone who is as heavy handed with their bronzer as I am, this is simply not a good fit. None the less, I’m determined to #projectpan this bad boy!
4) EYE SHADOW
ABH Modern Renaissance palette:
So, by now you can probably tell that I’m obsessed with everything LIP and don’t spend a great deal of money on any other kinds of makeup products. I’ve just never felt compelled to spend money on eye shadow palettes of any kind. Thankfully my Mother doesn’t feel the same way and picked up this STUNNING palette. The shades are actually unreal. There is absolutely no fall out and all shades have tons of colour payoff. I’m all about a neutral eye, so I’ve been sticking to “Golden Ochre”, “Vermeer”, and “Primavera”. With Fall just days away, I’m hoping to start dipping into some of the darker shadows.
5) EYE LINER
Essence Cosmetics Superfine Eyeliner pen:
The truth is, I need a wing liner. My eyes just feel naked without it. I’ve owned every liquid liner that you can think of and nothing quite compares to the Essence Cosmetics Superfine Eyeliner pen. This liner pen is just like the KVD Ultra Ink Liner, for just a fraction of the price. At $2.99 CAD, you could literally by 7 of these liners for the price of one of the Kat Von D pens! It’s long lasting and with its ultra slim felt tip applicator, you’ll get a precise line every time.
6) MASCARA
Essence Cosmetics Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara + Lancome Monsieur Big Volumizing Mascara:
Honestly, I am my best self with full lashes. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been layering two mascara’s in order to achieve that look. If you’ve been following my blog from the beginning, you’ll know how much I love the Essence mascaras. They’re not only incredibly affordable ($4.99 CAD) but they separate the lashes and give them the illusion of false lashes.
Okay, so this is where my basic AF makeup routine gets complicated. Once I’ve applied several layers of the Lash Princess False Lash mascara, it’s time to bring in the big guns. Enter … the Lancome Monsieur Big Volumizing Mascara. A few layers of this thickening mascara will guarantee you the look of a fresh set of falsies! This mascara is a tad pricier than my drugstore favourite, but in my opinion is well worth the $35 CAD price tag.
7) BROWS
Essence Cosmetics Make Me Brow Eyebrow Gel Mascara in “01 Blonde”:
Again, I was totally late to the brow game! I, like everyone else waxed and plucked at my relatively thick, bushy eye brows since that just wasn’t the “IN” thing when I was growing up. Sadly all those years at trying to perfect my brow game has left me feeling naked as my brows just don’t seem to grow. Thank goodness for the Essence Make Me Brow Eyebrow Gel Mascara. It fills them in, making them appear much fuller than they are.
8) BLUSH
Burt’s Bees 100% Natural Blush with Vitamin E in the shade “Bare Peach”:
Believe it or not, this is the FIRST blush I’ve ever purchased. As someone who naturally has quite a bit of colouring in my cheeks, I’ve never really needed it. The more I’ve been experimenting with tinted moisturizers + concealers, the more I’ve been muting out that colouring. I figured I would try out a blush to see if it was worth adding to my makeup routine. Burts Bees has the most beautiful all natural blush, and I couldn’t help but pick up the lightest shade in “Bare Peach”. It’s not a product I reach for everyday but on nights out, it’s something I like to brush over the apples of my cheeks for a little pop of colour.
9) SETTING SPRAY
NYX Professional Makeup Make Up Setting Spray Dewy Finish:
MAC Fix+, Wet N’ Wild PhotoFocus Setting Spray, and the NYX Dewy Finish Setting Spray. These three might just be my favourite setting sprays to date. While the NYX spray doesn’t have a scent like the other two, it leaves the skin feeling super hydrated and like the name implies, dewy.

Once the cooler weather rolls in, I’ll be dipping into darker eye shadow shades & reaching for my more Fall appropriate lippies.
Do you switch out certain makeup products as the season’s change?
Thanks so much for stopping by + until next time,
