The early morning sun is in your eyes, traffic has come to a standstill and then the sound of horns honking begins. You tell yourself you’re going to stop watching the clock, but your eyes keep wandering to the dashboard to catch a glimpse of the time.
As someone who likes (more like NEEDS) to start off their morning with a nice large coffee from Tim Hortons, I feel a bit like a racecar driver battling the traffic so I can make my much needed coffee pit stop.
I recently moved to another city which of course added more time to my daily commute, an extra 45 minutes (each way of course) to be exact. While I know there’s so many of you with even longer commutes, the truth is sometimes being stuck in traffic for 15 minutes can seem like eternity when you have someplace to be and nothing to occupy your time with. For years I relied on the radio (Virgin Radio 99.9) or the music on my iphone to get me through the drive. However, singing at the top of my lungs to the same songs day in and day out does get a little old (although probably makes for an entertaining commute for the cars around me). Then one magical day I heard that Anna Faris (star of House Bunny, Scary Movie and the tv show MOM) was coming out with a podcast of her own.
The result: my daily commute went from something I dreaded to something I looked forward to doing every day.
“Anna Faris is Unqualified” launched its first podcast back in November 2015 and has since attempted (successfully I might add) to offer advice to callers with the help of celebs like Chelsea Handler, Shaquille O’Neal, Chris Evans, Jenna Dewan Tatum, Katie Couric and many more. Up until this point, I was naïve in thinking that podcasts featured stuffy people talking about things that I would never be interested in. I could not have been more wrong!
Every week, Anna and her partner Sim “interview” a different celeb, talk to them about their current projects, feature segments like “deal breakers” and “not so rapid fire questions” and then help give advice to regular people experiencing sometimes really difficult problems.
These hour long episodes are guaranteed to make your drive to work a fun one!
Even when I’m not on the road and need a bit of a pick me up, I find myself going straight to these HILARIOUS episodes:
